FROM A GREAT POWER: STORY OF A HERO (AND A LOVE) WHO DEFEATED COVID
Silvia is a doctor. A doctor who in recent weeks has fought against the Covid pandemic that has hit Italy and the world. Its trench was Brescia, Spedali Riuniti. Here the coronavirus was particularly aggressive and deadly. In this part of the country the struggle was harder and more ruthless and it took courage, determination, a spirit of self-denial and inventiveness twice as much as in other regions of Italy. Silvia's story is a particular story, however, because she fought this health emergency alongside a superhero, a person with super powers. A doctor of extraordinary abilities, at the head of a handful of "soldiers" forged in his image and likeness by determination and team spirit. A man who is also Silvia's man, the man she loves and who has supported as best he could in these difficult and tragic weeks, And this is how Silvia sees Roberto, a super hero, capable of handling the situation more difficult that he has ever faced, dedicating all of himself, counting on his professionalism and preparation but also on Silvia's love and on small rituals that have helped him to overcome the difficulties and despair of every day.
When Sivlia turned to us she already had very clear ideas: being a super hero she wanted a realistic style, a Marvelian trait, which would wink at the Spider Man universe, a normal boy, who when he wears his uniform-costume and takes his magic potion (vitamin C) he becomes invincible. And if the mind falters, it resorts to the strongest power, that of the people who are close to it and who transmit it, energy, positivity, love. Like Silvia who had to get away from him and then rejoin and take part in the final attack until the inevitable and long-awaited happy ending ... the end of the nightmare, rebirth, normality.
This story is an act of love, the celebration of a man, of his infinite generosity but also of his love for his neighbor.
Axel, the screenwriter, took Silvia's plot (already very well written) in hand and transformed it into a lively, dynamic, moving and meaningful story. The choice of the designer was difficult. We had several possibilities but we decided to rely on a new entry from ilmiofumetto.it: Alessandro, class '88, graduated from the school of comics in Milan, monstrous talent with a pictorial trait was a winning choice. He perfectly interpreted Axel's instructions (full of references to Marvel's comics) and packaged a real graphic novel. This pair of artists has created a small masterpiece and given life to a story that we will remember for years, for its intensity and for the emotional load that it inevitably carries with it.
